Construction work for the A1 Gabès –Médenine motorway (Lot N ° 2)
The Gabès –Médenine motorway link, approximately 90 km long, is part of the north-south axis of the motorway plan selected for the economic and social development plan in Tunisia. This link is part of the Trans-Maghreb Corridor project to link the countries of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU): Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.
The Gabés-Médenine motorway has 4 sections of 21 km each, namely Gabès-Kettana, Kettana-Mareth, Mareth-Koutine and Koutine-Médenine, in addition to the duplication of the national road RN1 between the Zarzis interchange and the ring road from Medenine on 6.5Km.
The CETA design office was approached by the group of companies for the development of the design work for Lot2 (Kettana –Mareth).
The project includes:
- The large hydraulic structures (GOH) are 02 in number, crossing large flows and are designed for return periods of one hundred years:

- GOH35 on El Hjar river, reinforced concrete beam bridge of 03 spans of 20m (60ml), built on posts with deep foundations;
- Three (03) overpasses in solid reinforced concrete slab of four spans with an average length of 56m, based on shallow foundations;
